Smooth Operators

چکیده
We develop a generic approach to form smooth versions of basic mathematical operations like multiplication, composition, change of measure, and conditional expectation, among others. Operations which result in functions outside the reproducing kernel Hilbert space (such as the product of two RKHS functions) are approximated via a natural cost function, such that the solution is guaranteed to be in the targeted RKHS. This approximation problem is reduced to a regression problem using an adjoint trick, and solved in a vector-valued RKHS, consisting of continuous, linear, smooth operators which map from an input, real-valued RKHS to the desired target RKHS. Important constraints, such as an almost everywhere positive density, can be enforced or approximated naturally in this framework, using convex constraints on the operators. Finally, smooth operators can be composed to accomplish more complex machine learning tasks, such as the sum rule and kernelized approximate Bayesian inference, where stateof-the-art convergence rates are obtained.

Very smooth points of spaces of operators
In this paper we study very smooth points of Banach spaces with special emphasis on spaces of operators. We show that when the space of compact operators is an M-ideal in the space of bounded operators, a very smooth operator T attains its norm at a unique vector x (up to a constant multiple) and T (x) is a very smooth point of the range space. We show that if for every equivalent norm on a Ban...
متن کاملA Symbolic Calculus and a Parametrix Construction for Pseudodifferential Operators with Non-Smooth Negative Definite Symbols
We consider pseudodifferential operators that have non-smooth negative definite symbols and develop a corresponding symbolic calculus. Combining this symbolic calculus with the use of non-smooth symbols that are asymptotically constant in the co-variable we succeed in finding a parametrix for a certain pseudodifferential equation. This in turn allows us to show that some pseudodifferential oper...
متن کاملHardy Spaces and a Walsh Model for Bilinear Cone Operators
The study of bilinear operators associated to a class of non-smooth symbols can be reduced to the study of certain special bilinear cone operators to which a time frequency analysis using smooth wave-packets is performed. In this paper we prove that when smooth wave-packets are replaced by Walsh wave-packets the corresponding discrete Walsh model for the cone operators is not only Lp-bounded, a...
متن کاملGenetic Programming with Smooth Operators for Arithmetic Expressions: Diviplication and Subdition
This paper introduces the smooth operators for arithmetic expressions as an approach to smoothening the search space in Genetic Programming (GP). Smooth operator GP interpolates between arithmetic operators such as ∗ and /, thereby allowing a gradual adaptation to the problem. The suggested approach is compared to traditional GP on a system identification problem.

متن کاملOn left and right uninorms on a finite chain
The main concern of this paper is to introduce and characterize the class of operators on a finite chain L, having the same properties of pseudo-smooth uninorms but without commutativity. Moreover, in this case it will only be required the existence of a one-side neutral element. These operators are characterized as combinations of A N D and O R operators of directed algebras (smooth t-norms an...
